Jura Watches Hit By Thieves

The Evening Standard is reporting that upmarket watch retailers, Jura Watches, in Burlington Gardens were hit by raiders last night. The smash and grab thieves made off with thousands of pounds worth of watches from the store which stocks brands such as Baume et Mercier, Bremont and Bell & Ross.

BBC’s Antiques Roadshow expert, Paul Atterbury, will make a presentation on “A.W.N. Pugin and Victorian Church Architecture” this Wednesday, July 8th at 7pm at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street.
Tickets are £10 and can be purchased at the door. Entry includes a glass of wine and an opportunity to meet Mr Atterbury at a reception being held immediately following the presentation.

Blue Plaque Unveiled For Wendy Richard

The Heritage Foundation has unveiled a blue plaque in Mayfair to commemorate the life of the Eastenders actress, Wendy Richard MBE.

The plaque was unveiled at the Shepherd Tavern in Hertford Street, where she lived with her parents as a child. Many stars who have worked from Wendy Richard gathered at the unveiling today, including Todd Carty, David Croft OBE, Natalie Cassidy, Frank Thornton and Perry Fenwick.

Wendy Richard died in February of this year. Shortly after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she married her partner at the Chesterfield Hotel, also in Mayfair.

Mayfair Flower Thief Found Guilty

A thief who targetted a florist in Mayfair has been found guilty at Southwark Crown Court.

Sean Fuller repeatedly stole flowers from Wild Things in Davies Street and sold them to pay for his heroin habit.

Judge Peter Testar handed Fuller a community order with a three-months residence requirement, he would have to undergo a six-month drug rehabilitation and be subject to a 12-month supervision order.
