Charles Rolls gets Blue Plaque
March 25, 2010 by Rob Powell
One of the co-founders of Rolls Royce received the honour of a blue plaque in Mayfair from English Heritage this week.
The plaque dedicated to Charles Rolls was unveiled on Monday at 14-15 Conduit Street, where Rolls worked between 1905 to 1910, by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu.
Rolls was born in Mayfair’s Berkeley Square and went on to co-found the legendary car maker with Frederick Royce.
Rolls’ other contribution to the world of motoring was to be one of the founder members of the Automobile Club, which went onto become the RAC.
