Mayfair bike hire docking station causes row

July 9, 2010 by

A MAYFAIR resident has gone to the High Court to try and prevent a the installation of a new bike dire docking station.

Westminster Council has given consent for the docking station – part of the Mayor of London’s new bicycle hire scheme – to be installed in South Audley Street, and work is due to begin next week.

But local man, Noel Carroll, has asked the High Court to stop it going again, saying that the Council has not properly considered the environmental effects, according to a BBC news report.

Around 400 of the docking stations are being installed across the capital ready for the launch of the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme at the end of July.

Do you support the installation of a bike hire docking station in South Audley Street?

i wd support all schemes to improve the flow of traffic in london if only the mayor (red ken was no better!) cd insist that activity on all road works continued round the clock till completion. these last thirty years or so i’ve travelled very widely, and in oecd country major cities i’ve never seen idle road construction sites.
