I like Maggs, I go there, as well as Sotheran and buy books there. I have never seen a ghost - nor has anyone else. A lot of people love delusion- ghosts don't exist. Period.

One of my "eccentric" -(well it's a polite way to say mad isn't it?) friends asked me? Is your house haunted? Its hundreds of years old, so it must be!

I replied no- it is not haunted! To which he said: "it probably is, and you wouldnt know"

There it is.

Go to 50 Berkeley Square- buy a book- and appreciate architecture as it should be-then look at the rest of Berkeley Sq-and the horrid 70's buildings and thank god that at least a few examples of fine architecture have been saved from the developers.

absolutely not needed. On the one hand Westminster Council wants Mayfair to "return to a more residential area" ala George III period, on the other it gives the ok to make it as an unappealing place to live. The result? super rich people buy houses/flats etc, dont live in them -who would ? and leave them empty-squatters move in and the whole mess goes round. If the council is, or indeed ever was serious about a return to the grand old days of George III then why not pull down some eyesores, and build neo georgian houses-hell why not a palladian villa or two? I am sure that out there are a few people with 200-300 mill to spend on a trophy home with a good sized garden slap bang in London.
As it stands though more of the ugly rubbish glass structures go up, the ground beneath is ever tunnelled -and disruption to the quiet enjoyment of peoples lives given the ok to build these bloody stupid schemes to create employment fior a gang of (pardon me) hairy-arsed builders. Beautiful system. As with the H2 Chiltern line -another monumental white elephant, this crossrail is a only there to make artificial jobs to push down the out-of-work quotient. Realistically it only serves to make the quality of life worse for the average Mayfair resident. Another great myth is that Mayfair needs millions of people to writhe via its narrow streets to make the place vibrant-utter rubbish. Most outsiders bring crime and chaos to Mayfair. If steel gates could be erected around it's borders and traffic was banned through its streets-not just stupidly taxed via a charge -but actually stopped the air quality would improve no end. I wouldnt need to repaint the stucco facade so often as the black soot that settles on the exterior would be vastly less.
But...who is listening? an uncaring Govt or developers (read thieves and vandals in the main part-though not all)
God help Mayfair and its poor residents!!!

Always two standards. These Third World countries want the west to be so open and so fair. (As if they have even a clue of what that means). And the minute things go wrong for them, they flee to avoid the responsibility and the consequences. They want the best of both worlds and we smile and pat them on the head and allow it. Makes you think that it would not be unfair to not permit people from countries with no extradition treaty to enter GB. Let the bleeding heart liberals bleed--or let them go live in Yemen.

England seems to be the only country that does not throw squatters into jail.
Imagine - a poor family absent for 6 months in another country due to distress in the family, come back home and find their home defiled by squatters.
Debris all over, precious memorabilia and valuables stolen!
One member in the family suffered a stroke due to this and these unspeakables refuse to leave and render the family who worked and saved all their life, homeless.
Wow...
This happened in England in 2011.
In Luton, Bedfordshire.

Hi Rob, I'm putting on a night of original music with my band and was wondering if you knew anyone else that would like to come along? the night would be enjoyed by anyone who likes bands such as "The Who" "Johnny Cash" "David Gray" "Mumford And Sons" "U2" and many more. If you know anyone and would like to help promote the night, please ask them to join us on our facebook group and check out our music - www.myspace.com/danielspiller.

My band "Daniel Spiller And The Broken Record Project" will be playing a special free gig at T Chances on the Saturday the 25th of September from 9.30 till 11.30pm. It's a free gig, good people, party spirit and very cheap drink. Only 5 minutes walk from Seven Sisters Tube station (only 4 stops from central London on the victoria line) here is a link to the venue on Google Maps. Anyone is very welcome to join us for a night of genuinely good music. Each month will feature a new guest artist to.

i wd support all schemes to improve the flow of traffic in london if only the mayor (red ken was no better!) cd insist that activity on all road works continued round the clock till completion. these last thirty years or so i've travelled very widely, and in oecd country major cities i've never seen idle road construction sites.
